Nicholas's journey in healthcare began with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of North Dakota. Further honing his expertise in comprehensive family healthcare, he pursued a Master of Science in Nursing - Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN, FNP) from the same institution.

Before joining Grand Forks Clinic, Nicholas worked as a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner for family medicine, emergency medicine, and inpatient settings at Essentia Health in Fosston, MN. He managed patients' healthcare needs throughout their lifespans, providing expert assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for both acute and chronic illnesses.
As part of his Nurse Practitioner Student Clinical Rotations in Minnesota at North Valley Health Center in Warren, Nicholas provided exceptional care to patients in critical access ER and surgical inpatient units.
He also served as a clinical instructor, guiding and mentoring undergraduate nursing students on medical surgical units during his role as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of North Dakota and Altru Health Systems in Grand Forks, ND.
